Our Services;

We aim to provide information on the services we provide at the Forum and those available within the town.  Any feedback on the information provided would be greatly appreciated as our aspirations is to integrate the Forum with great hospitality which Mountmellick is renowned for. We especially wish to hear good stories but we can only improved on the basis of poor experiences, so please feel free to comment;

Eating in or Out

The Hostel has a large communal Kitchen and dining area. The facility is designed to cater for  individuals or group self-catering.

Plates, cutlery and cooking utinsils are available.

If you are travelling in a group and wish to avail of a pre-prepared meal, please provide advance notices and the days menu choice can be discussed and prepared at a cost to be agreed.

Sadly, there are no restaurants in the town. However, for a wholesome meal during the day, we recommend the Hares Corner Cafe and Restaurant 09:00 – 17:00 where a hearty meal is always available. Phone first if a group to arrange a table   (+353 57 869 7493)

Local Pubs

There are several nearby local pubs and from Guest feedback, we recommend;

Maloneys (Central Bar)    Directly across the road. Music most weekend

Tom and Veronica’s         Exit Building, turn right and walk to junction, keeping left, Tom &                                                       Vrons is directly on right. (Local musicians Sunday afternoon)

The Druid                           Exit Building, Turn left, pass the square on the right, pass the bank                                                   and its immediately on Left

Hollow Bar                        For a quite pint, Exit Building, Turn left, enter the square and head                                                  for opposite corner and the pub is located in narrow slip road.

Turleys                             Exit Building, Turn left and walk to bottom of town, when you cross the                                     bridge, turn left and carry on to edge of town,  its on the junction.                                                     (Local Musicians Thursday night- (Please check)

This is not to say the many other pubs in town are less inviting, if you happen to visit and find a happy experience and welcome on the mat, please let us know and we will post their details;

The Hostel management team is committed to making your stay as enjoyable as possible and are available to advise on the many local attractions.

Local Attractions

There are numerous local attractions both in and around Mountmellick. A car is essential if you wish to see these.

Brochures of all local attractions are displayed within the Church common room.

 

But, please ask if there is something specific you wish to fit in.

Checking in?

Check in is between the hours of 4pm and 9pm.

If you wish to check in outside these hours, please contact the Forum on +353 (0) 578697557 or text +353 (0) 858836402 prior to the day of arrival and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Wireless internet is available in public areas.

Fire Precautions

The Hostel is protected by a automatic fire detection and alarm system. Each bedroom is protected by a smoke detector.

In the event of a fire-alarm activation, Guests are required to vacate immediately and proceed immediately to the fire muster point.

There are no guest laundry facilities on site. However, there is a local self service laundrette within 10-minutes walk from our facility.

Door Entry

The doors will be secured at 9:pm each evening. A front door key is issued on check-in.

Please ensure you take your key with you at night.

Doctors and Dentists

A list of local doctors and dentists is available at reception.  An emergency doctor call out will incur a charge.

Baby Cots

A limited number of cots are available at reception. Please book in advance to avoid disappointment. There is no extra charge.

For details of the many local attractions in the area, please talk to a member of staff or visit the brochure display unit in the main hall.
